A mainstay of America’s public-diplomacy efforts, the Fulbright Foreign Student Program brings citizens of other countries to the United States for Master’s degree at U.S. universities. The program has brought some of the world’s finest minds to U.S. campuses and offers program participants’ insight into U.S. society and values. Many foreign Fulbright grantees are early-career professionals who will return to take leadership positions in their home countries, often working at universities or in government service.

Eligibility Requirements

• Completed University bachelors degree, or enrollment in graduate studies;
• Proficiency in English to undertake graduate studies in the United States;

• A detailed statement of degree objective for graduate studies at a U.S. institution; 

• Kosovo citizenship and/or permanent residence in Kosovo.  

• The majority of fields of study are eligible with the exception of medical studies (public health or global health are eligible). In addition, students may also apply for MA programs in cultural heritage preservation.

2. Each page of the following application carries its own instructions, which should be read carefully before proceeding.
3. Every question must be answered completely and carefully. Please make every effort to limit your responses to the space provided.
4. Completed applications should submitted by Friday, July 19, 2013. 
5. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Please note:  Applications MUST have all the required components listed below, especially three reference letters and full transcripts.  It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that referees submit materials on time.

 

 A complete application consists of the following components: 

1. Application
The five page application includes biographical information, study objectives, curriculum vitae, and other information. Please note the following special instructions on certain numbered fields in the application: 

(a) Study Objectives (page 3, item 24). The description of your study objectives in the U.S. is an essential and highly important part of your application. You should take great care in writing a clear and detailed description of the program you want to pursue. An unclear, incomplete or overly brief statement can diminish your chances for admission to an appropriate program in the U.S. Do not list your choice of universities here or anywhere else in the five pages of the application.

2. Confidential Information Form
The information you provide in this section is used for IIE's internal purposes and as a release form to obtain standardized test scores when necessary. You may list your choice of U.S. universities on this form only.

3. Confidential Letters of Reference
Each application must include three letters of reference.  It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that reference letters are submitted by the July 19, 2013, deadline.  U.S. universities consider letters of reference to be extremely important. All letters of reference should be written by teachers under whom you have studied or pursued research or by someone who has supervised you in work related to your proposed field of study. Letters of reference written by persons related to you either by blood or marriage, or by personal friends, will not be accepted.  At least one academic and one professional or work-related letter must be included among the three letters you provide. The letters of reference should be written in English, if all possible. If they are not, a certified translation must be provided.  Please be certain to ask that both pages of the form are completed. You have two option for submitting reference letters:  1) You may enter the email address for each reference in the online embark system which will enable them to complete the reference letter online or 2) you can print out the required forms and forward them to your references.  If you choose this second option, your references will need to mail the completed form and reference letter to the address listed below.

Note on Standardized Tests
Applicants are not required to take the TOEFL test prior to being accepted into the program.  Once an applicant is selected as a primary or alternate candidate, he or she will be required to take the official TOEFL test and will receive instructions on how to apply.

The TOEFL test is an admissions requirement at all U.S. universities for applicants whose native language is not English.

Please note that some finalists may also be required to take the GRE or GMAT, depending on their field of study, to be considered for admission into a U.S. graduate program.

Other Important Information 

Duration of Grants: Fulbright grants for Master’s degree study are awarded for 1-2 academic years, depending on the length of the degree program.  Candidates appointed to certain types of Fulbright grants may be required to arrive during the summer for an introductory course or intensive English program prior to the academic year.

Change of Plans: You should promptly inform the U.S. Embassy of any change in your academic status or future plans after your application has been submitted.

A complete application includes:

• application form submitted online via EMBARK (do not submit a paper copy to U.S. Embassy Pristina)
• detailed statement of proposed activity
• detailed curriculum vitae
• three letters of reference

The following documents should be scanned and attached to your online application. Documents should be scanned in PDF and each scanned document may not be bigger than 2 MB.

• A copy of passport;
• A copy of your B.A. degree, as well as a translation of the degree or letter into English, if applicable.
• A letter from your employer confirming employment, if you are employed.
• Any optional supplementary documents.
