New Europe College – Institute for Advanced Study in Bucharest, Romania – announces the competition for New Europe College International Fellowships  for the academic year 2014-15. The program targets young international researchers/academics working in the fields of humanities, social studies, and economics.

Apart from New Europe College International Fellowships, the College offers 2 more Fellowship programs, that are targeted at young, highly talented scholars in the Humani­ties and Social Sciences coming from:

  • the Black Sea Region, particularly from Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan - The Black Sea Link program
  • European countries that are not yet members of the European Union, or which have a less consolidated position within it, targeting in particular the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Macedonia, Serbia), Turkey, Cyprus – The Europe next to Europe Program

Duration of the Fellowship:

  1. a full academic year (10 months, October through July) or
  2. a one-term fellowship (October through February, or March through July).

Location: New Europe College – Institute for Advanced Study, Bucharest, Romania.

Eligibility

Applicants must hold a PhD title or be doctoral students in an advanced stage of their research. Preference is given to candidates under the age of 40, and to those who have not yet benefited from a NEC Fellowship.

Fellowship

Fellows are granted a monthly stipend of 600 – 650 € plus accommodation and travel expenses. In addition to their residence period in Bucharest, they are offered a one-month research trip abroad to an institution of their choice.

The Fellows are expected to work on their own projects, and take part in the scientific events organized by the New Europe College. At the end of their Fellowship, each Fellow is expected to hand in a research paper, reflecting the results of his/her work over the duration of the Fellowship. The papers will be included in a NEC publication.
